说明：原帖是emerbay朋友发表在《中国翻译论坛》上的文章。

电影“第一滴血”的原文是“First Blood", 中文翻译为 “第一滴血”。这是典型的望文生义的例子。
如果倒过来把中文译为英文，该是：“the First Drop of Blood"，那么这与剧情有什么关系?
查Oxford American Dictionary, first blood 条是这么解释的: first success in a contest，晕！原来跟血一点关系都没有！
再google “first blood origin" 得知， First Blood 与拳击有关。在拳击比赛中，如果你先“draw blood", 就是你让对方受伤而得胜。用在以下的句子中， First Blood的意思就不言而喻了:
* In the debate, it was the visitors who drew first blood.
* We were hoping to draw first blood. Unfortunately, we didn't.
原来是“旗开得胜”的意思。
值得注意的是，这个First之前没有冠词 the, 因此可以断定，其强调“第一”的意思大大减弱。
